Sports Portraits for Seniors
Many of my seniors are into sports of some kind or another. I definitely encourage you to let your photographer know if you want to include your favorite sports or activities into your senior portrait session. It helps to know ahead of time so locations, outfits and props can be planned.
Just because you play a sport that is played indoors like basketball or volleyball, you don't have to take them in the gym. If however you only have access to your uniform during season and the weather makes it difficult to get your sports portraits done then definitely go ahead and schedule those in your local gym! These basketball images were done at a park in Branson - I love the blue color on the court!
Baseball
If you play softball or baseball it makes sense to incorporate shots on your home field or in the dugout for your session.
Don't forget to bring your bat, ball, and glove along with your uniform or jersey. Most important items for these sports are the ball, glove and or bat, but you don't have to wear a jersey or uniform if you prefer not to.
Volleyball
Another great indoor sport I love to photograph is volleyball!
Golf and other outdoor sports
Golf and archery are also popular sports that you can include in your senior portrait session and a great way to show what you love! If golf is your passion and you'd like to have photos on the golf course be sure to contact the pro shop at your selected location and get approval before you go so you don't have any problems shooting there. Also be sure you know and use proper protocol. Many courses will not allow bags or light stands to be placed on greens and cart usage should also follow proper protocol.
