Hi! My name is Sheila Smith and I am addicted to photography. Senior photography and wedding photography more specifically. I love cameras, and I love taking photos of people the most. I love it so much that in the winter time, I miss it even though it’s nice to have a slow period to get caught up on those things I don’t like as much about running my own business. (But don’t get me wrong….I love that stuff too. Just maybe not quite as much!) So I thought I'd put together this sweet little Valentine's shoot!
STYLED SENIOR PORTRAITS
I decided it would be great to put together a styled portrait session recently to give me a chance to practice some different processes that would help boost my images and add additional services to what I offer and make it more of a senior portrait experience for you!
I want to offer a more immersive experience since senior portraits should be a celebration of what you’ve already accomplished and what you’ll be accomplishing in the future. You’ll now have the opportunity to add hair styling and makeup to your session as well as having access to my everchanging style closet!
Meet my Hair and Makeup Team!
Ashlee Miers / Hair
Ashlee specializes in trending color techniques as well as formal hair styles. She has loved doing hair as long as she can remember. She says she started out cutting her Barbie dolls hair and moved up to braiding her teammates hair when she played high school sports. Making people feel beautiful has always been one of her passions. She gets to be an uplifting presence in some of the most difficult and exciting times in people’s lives. She loves feeling the joy from a bride on their wedding day but also being there and comforting someone who has just lost a loved one. “I love making people feel loved when they need it most.” Ashlee says.
I’ve been working with Sheila for a couple of ears now and I’ve loved every second of it. Offering a hair or makeup service for senior portrait sessions is a wonderful thing because it takes the stress out of the day. We will pamper you and make you feel beautiful for your photos and look forward to serving you!
Alison Stephens / Makeup
Alison says she didn't wear much makeup when she was younger. She started a new job out of high school and started using makeup as something fun that went with her new job. She was approached for prom make up severa times and she realized making women feel beautiful for special occations and events is something she loves to do. She started cosmetology school last fall and graduates this spring! She absolutely loves what she does and says,"I'd love to make you feel beautiful for whatever event you may have!"
I selected Addison Baker from Galena, Missouri to model for me. She’s a 2022 Senior who loves horror movies, (Conjuring and Annabel), country music (Luke Combs), enjoys hanging out with friends and playing volleyball (setter/back row middle) and wants to be in the medical field when she graduates high school. She is currently in EMT class and medical explorers. When I asked her where in the world she would want to live if she had the choice, she said Fiji! A girl after my own heart! ❤
What is a style closet?
I have started collecting fun, cute dresses, skirts, tops, jackets and accessories for you to choose from that you can wear for your portrait session. Many of the items you see Addison wearing in these portraits are in my style closet (except for the jeans and shoes). I have more options and will be adding to my closet often! I always look for great wardrobe staples like motorcycle jackets, jean jackets, black skirts, plus unique items like 70’s tops, colorful t-shirts, western shirts, fun belts…We’ll discuss your style and how you see yourself, and select items from my closet that highlight that! You can choose not to use anything, pick only one item or a handful of items for your session all at no additional cost! I’ll be doing a separate blog post highlighting some of my favorite items for you to use!
